Agency relationship
Paradise Consulting and Magic Breakaways
Has Paradise Consulting taken over Magic Breakaways?
No. Paradise Consulting is an accredited agency of Magic Breakaways. The businesses retain their own identities, while Paradise assists clients with selected holiday-week enquiries.
Which resorts can I ask Paradise about?
The featured collection includes Kruger Park Lodge, Bakubung Bush Lodge, Kwa Maritane, Castleburn, Wilderness Dunes and Elephant Point. Current inventory and week categories vary by resort.
Can Paradise help an existing client as well as a new holidaymaker?
Yes. Existing clients can ask for help identifying the right administrative route, while new clients can compare currently available Peak, Off-Peak and Flexi Weeks.
Week categories
Which type of week suits your calendar?
What is a Peak Week?
A Peak Week falls within a designated high-demand period, which may include selected school holidays, festive dates or popular seasonal travel periods. Exact dates, availability and booking rules vary by resort and year.
What is an Off-Peak Week?
An Off-Peak Week falls outside the resort’s designated Peak periods. These dates can suit travellers with greater calendar flexibility, but the exact season, price and accommodation still need to be confirmed.
What is a Flexi Week?
A Flexi Week allows an eligible stay to be requested within a defined calendar or season. Dates are not automatically guaranteed; booking windows, scheme rules and availability apply.
Which week category is best?
Choose around the dates you realistically travel. Peak suits high-demand calendars, Off-Peak suits flexible travel outside busy periods, and Flexi can offer date choice within its stated rules.
Are these categories identical at every resort?
No. Season calendars, accommodation, booking rules, levies and inventory differ. Paradise Consulting will confirm the current written details for the exact resort and week being considered.
Weeks and resort use
When and how may you stay?
What is a fixed week?
A fixed week allocates a specified annual use period under the agreement. Check how calendar changes are handled, when arrival occurs and whether the same unit or only the same unit category is included.
What is a flexible or flexi week?
A flexible week allows a stay to be requested within an eligible season or date range. The booking window, available inventory and priority rules affect which dates can be confirmed.
Are school-holiday or peak dates guaranteed?
Only where the written agreement specifically allocates or guarantees those dates. A marketing reference to peak access or priority should be checked against the precise booking and allocation terms.
May family or friends use my week?
Many programmes allow guest use, but the owner may need to notify the resort, obtain a guest certificate or pay a charge. Confirm occupancy limits and guest rules before giving someone access.
Exchange and unused weeks
Can one week open other destinations?
How do MB Exchange and RCI fit into ownership?
They are exchange channels through which eligible owners or members may deposit qualifying use and request another stay. They are separate programmes with their own memberships, inventory, booking windows, trading rules and fees. Eligibility should be confirmed for the exact ownership.
Does depositing my week guarantee the destination I want?
No. A deposit gives access to the applicable request process, not a guaranteed resort or date. Supply, demand, trading value, lead time, membership status and fees can affect the options returned.
What if I cannot use my week?
Your agreement or programme may permit you to bank the week, give authorised guest use, exchange it or place it into an approved rental channel. These options are not automatic; deadlines, fees, availability and written approval requirements may apply.
Is rental income guaranteed if I do not travel?
No. If rental is permitted, returns can depend on demand, achieved rate, availability, management deductions and other costs. Ask for the current written rental terms and do not treat possible income as assured.
How early should I bank or exchange a week?
Lead times vary by resort and programme. Earlier action may improve the available choices, but it does not create a guarantee. Confirm the deposit deadline, expiry date and current transaction fee before proceeding.
Costs, transfers and resale
Plan beyond the purchase price
Why are annual levies charged?
Levies typically fund shared resort operations and upkeep, which can include maintenance, staffing, utilities, insurance, administration and reserve needs. The budget and scheme rules determine the amount and how it may change.
What other ownership costs should I ask about?
Depending on the product, costs may include booking or housekeeping charges, exchange membership and transactions, guest certificates, rental-management deductions, special levies, finance costs, taxes and later transfer or administration fees. Request a current itemised explanation.
Can ownership be transferred to another person?
Possibly, subject to the legal structure and documents. The process may require settled levies, scheme or company approval, identity and compliance checks, signed transfer documents and payment of legal or administrative charges. Confirm the current steps, timing and cost before agreeing to a transfer.
Can Paradise guarantee a resale or resale price?
No resale outcome should be assumed. Buyer demand, the resort, season, remaining rights, levy position and transfer requirements can affect both timing and value. Obtain the current written resale process and consider independent advice.
What happens to an ownership on death or inheritance?
The outcome depends on the legal structure, estate plan and applicable law. Levies and other obligations may continue while an estate is administered. Owners should ask a qualified estate professional how the interest would be treated.
Resort standards and international buyers
Two final points to understand
What does Gold Crown mean?
Gold Crown is an RCI resort-recognition designation associated with participating properties that meet RCI criteria. It is not a promise of a particular room, experience, exchange result or investment return. Confirm the resort’s current status directly with the relevant programme.
Can someone outside South Africa buy an ownership?
Potentially, but the answer depends on the property, legal structure and current rules. International buyers should obtain independent South African legal and tax advice, and advice in their home country, before committing.
What should an international buyer check?
Review identity and compliance requirements, how funds may be introduced or later repatriated, taxes, exchange-control considerations, transfer costs, estate planning, currency exposure and how documents can be signed from abroad. Paradise can explain the holiday product, but specialist advice should come from suitably qualified professionals.
These answers do not replace the signed agreement or legal, tax and financial advice. Terms, fees, levies, programme participation and availability can change.
